Colonial Tennis Update E-mail Blast

On May 1, our tennis shop will be fully stocked with the area’s largest selection of tennis racquets and bags.  We also will have demo’s for you to try as well as the official Colonial Logo Tennis Shirts.  We can restring & re-grip your racquet and have it back to you overnight. 

Tennis court reservations can be made by: writing your reservation into the reservation book located at the tennis desk on the deck at the courts; calling Tom at 421-2209; or e-mailing TSMasterPro@aol.com.

Court & Guest Fees

There are no court fees for Colonial Members.  In addition, members receive discounts on instructional programs and no charge for doubles mixers.  A member may bring a guest to play tennis for $5/weekdays and $8/weekends.  Non members may reserve court time but must pay a $20/hr court fee for a clay court and $12/hour for the all weather courts.

Ball Machine Rental

One of the best ways to hit a lot of balls and improve your fitness and your strokes is to work out on our state of the art Play Mate Ball Machine.  Reservations are needed for the ball machine and we recommend that you get a friend to join you while working out with the ball machine as the machine can give you all a great workout.

Ball Machine Cardio Drills

Our new ball machine cardio drill class is perfect for anyone ages 14 and up at any level of play.  We will put you thru lots of drills that will improve your game while helping your fitness level.   This is the perfect way for you to get back into tennis!  Classes will be held on Friday 5pm-6pm and Saturday noon-1 pm.

Private Lessons

This is your chance to work one on one with Tom Sweitzer who was named the #1 tennis teaching professional in the United States!  We will set up a time that fits your schedule to take your game to a new level quickly.  You can also arrange to work with a friend for a semi private or form your own group lesson.    The charge is $50/hr for members and $55/hr for non members.

Group Lessons

Our group lesson program is on a “drop in” basis which allows you a lot of flexibility. The classes run thru October which gives you a lot of opportunity to take advantage of our discounted family pricing structure. 

The Metzger Pro Tournament is the largest prize money event in Middle States.  It allows all area tennis fans to watch world class tennis players.  The event is free of charge, but relies on sponsorships from local supporters.  The matches are held at Blue Ridge CC, Harrisburg CC, West Shore CC with Colonial hosting the stadium court.  For details go to http://www.metzger-open.com/.  Contact Dr, Craig Mathias at ckmdds@aol.com for sponsorship information.  Call Tom Sweitzer if you are able to host a player during the tournament or if your child would like to be a ball person.

Tennis Trips

Winter 2011            HHI Winter Break – visit with Tom & Mikel Sweitzer at their BB&T (bed, breakfast & tennis) for a few days of tennis/fun.

Thomas Brown is back for his 4^th summer. Thomas will be graduating from Harrisburg Penn State in December.  Diego Munoz will be joining the staff for his 2^nd summer.  He will be a Senior at Central Dauphin East and has played number 1 singles his entire time at CDE.   Special hitting sessions are available with the assistant professionals for only $25/hr members and $30/hr non members.

Tom Sweitzer

Tom is one of only 140 tennis professionals in the country to obtain the Master Pro Rating which has been earned by less than 1% of certified tennis professionals.  In 2007 he was inducted by the United States Tennis Association into their Hall of Fame which has honored only 45 people out of over 35,000 members.  In 2008 the United States Professional Associated named him the #1 tennis professional in the United States out of over 15,000 full time tennis professionals.  Tom has been a top ranking junior and college player and has played in the US Open Mixed Dbs.  Most important, he has been the driving force behind the growth of tennis in this area for over 34 years.  He has taught over 50,000 hours of on court lessons to over 10,000 students.  Over 200 of his former students now teach/coach tennis and over 1,000 tennis professionals have attended his seminars that have taken him from coast to coast as well as internationally.  He has personally escorted over 9,500 people to professional tennis events & vacations and has helped to raise over $8 million dollars for charities vie his tennis events.  The above programs and activities are your opportunity to get involved with the best in the country to get your tennis game/career on track for certain success.  Tom can be reached at 717-421-2209 or TSMasterPro@aol.com for any and all of your tennis needs!
